Merle has now retired from private practice and is writing, speaking (book signings, talks and speeches) and consulting. Merle’s mission is to help people make sense out of their lives and often the pain they are in, so they can move forward. With over 35 years of personal and professional work, Merle has taken the summary of his experience and training and uses it to help others. 

He has specialized in working with severe trauma, particularly, childhood sexual abuse, men with gynecomastia. From many years in private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area, including a stint working with troops and their families in Germany, he has worked with many survivors  of childhood abuse and adults whose childhood pain was unresolved. 

Merle's own healing journey informed deep compassion for the emotional pain people experience, as well as his profound belief in the possibility of healing and claiming one’s life.
